We all know AI is a relatively new technology that has had a large impact on our society. How are we to interact with it, and what benefits and damages does it do?

AI has influenced the world around us. While the technology seems incredible, there are many drawbacks, all of which outweigh the benefits. It is wrong to say AI is completely detrimental, as it has made some advances when regulated with ethics. However, some issues with AI include a negative impact on the environment (to water and energy sources), harm to the art community and artists, plagiarism (it is well known that AI steals when ‘creating’), harm to the field of education and workspace (an example is use of ChatGPT on essays and other assignments), and deepfakes and misinformation. Another major issue is the use of character AI platforms and/or the treatment of AI as a therapist or friend, but that is an entirely separate issue that should be discussed more in depth on a different post. This post is a broad view of the negative effects of AI in general.
