Contrary to popular belief, modesty and style do not have to be mutually exclusive. Indeed, I believe that the most beautiful outfits are the ones that cover the most. But unfortunately, in a society that increasingly leans towards immodest clothes, it can be hard to find cute clothes that also follow Islamic laws. So, to help, I have compiled a list of tips to elevate your outfits easily! description.
- Sandwich Method
This is one of my favourite methods for choosing fashionable outfits that also match, and it’s also very easy. Essentially, you need to select a base article of clothing, such as a cute shirt or a skirt. From this, choose a colour that matches the one of the chosen clothing. For example, if you have a pink shirt, then light blue jeans would match well. Then, you simply sandwich the colour between the original piece of clothing and the top and bottom layers. For your pink shirt and blue jeans, you would then choose a light blue hijab to complement the jeans. To go to the next level, you can double sandwich by matching your shoes to the shirt, and the underpiece of your hijab to the shirt as well. When you do this, your outfits will automatically seem so much more put-together and stylish.
- Color Combos
This tip complements the first one and is useful when selecting clothes to wear in general. These are just colour combinations that look good together and can bring different moods. Pink and Yellow: Colour combo immediately brings to mind spring, brightness, and can increase good energy all day. Red and Black: If you’re feeling a little edgier or generally have darker vibes, then this combination screams vampire in the best way possible. White and Black: This is a classic fusion, and it’s classic for a reason! If you wear it right, then you can go from boring to elegant in seconds. Another great combination for if you’re feeling less bright and eccentric, is Pink and Khaki. This combo is light and breezy, while seeming professional and classy.
- Accessorize
Something I love to do that can elevate your hijab even when having a bad day is cute accessories to decorate it. For example, bows on the back or sides of your hijab immediately draw the eyes there, and away from the rest of the outfit if your clothes are feeling a little lackluster today. Small clips on the sides or to pin your hijab can also add a cute touch that might be missing. After all, just because you can’t show your hair doesn’t mean you can’t accessorise!
- Stay Modest!
Even though social media may show outfit inspo as girls with crop tops and booty shorts, you can find cute clothes that cover your awrah in the process. Skirts are a classic clothing choice that do not have to be worn only for special occasions. A long, colorfully designed skirt paired with a simple top is a beautiful combination that stays modest as well. Baggy Jeans are also a favourite of mine, as they automatically add interest to the outfit. Baggy Shirts are also always in style, according to me, especially partly tucked or paired with baggy jeans or sweats. A simple dress or abaya also never goes amiss for a slightly fancier occasion, or even a normal day if you’re feeling a bit fancy.
In short, never believe that just because you wear hijab and dress modestly, your fashion sense must also suffer! Instead, take it as an opportunity to make your outfits even more unique and special so that whenever anyone sees you walking past, they go “oh my God, she looks so good!” ~
